How Does Ethnocentricity Cause Conflict?

On the 26th of January, 1788, the British arrived to the place where is now known as Sydney to find the land to colonize and start their new life. Seeing the First Australians, the British thought they were just animals because their skin tone, behavior and manners were totally different from the British. Therefore, the British took over their land without permission. First, the British wanted to make a good relationship and colonize together with the aboriginals in order to keep stable lifestyle between British and First Australians. Eventually, driven by bias and inconsiderate views of the British caused by their ethnocentrism, the consequence was in vain exerted and resulted in conflicts and misunderstood among them. When the colonists first came to Australia, they were unsatisfied with savage manners and appearances that First Australians had. With their bias view, the aboriginals' actions were not understandable. Their first attempt was to eliminate all the crops that the First Australians used to eat and plant their own crops such as corn and potato because they were not comfortable with the lifestyle with those barbarous people. Due to the difference in the food supplies, the aboriginals suffered from starvation. Seeing this terrible situation, the man named Pemulwuy realized that their land was being taken by the evils. As a consequence, he started burning all the crops and food supply in rage which caused a conflict between aboriginals and the British. Eventually, Pemulwuy was killed. At that time, Bennelong, who went England to experience new things, has returned and found out his land was in misery. He lost his wife, family and trust with the aboriginals. He decided to leave England and live in Australia in his savage lifestyle. At this point, the British reported that in spite of their benevolent treatment towards Bennelong, these could not warp his menacing and barbarous manners with their ethnocentric view. The British and the First Australians were no longer in an amiable relationship. Although the British's first request was acceptable, their ethnocentric views towards the aboriginals could not overcome the cultural conflicts between two countries.

Julius Caesar Duet

I will be prepareing the play with You Jin Reo. I will be Caesar and You Jin will be Calpurnia. We will perform: Act two, Scene two, Lines 1-56.

In this scene, Calpurnia tries to persuade Caesar not to go Senate house because of her nightmare about Caesar's downfall. Calpurnia thinks her nightmare is a foreshadowing of Caesar's death. She begs Caesar to stay at home for the protection.

This scene is significant because Calpurnia's nightmare is a foreshadowing of Caesar's assassination from the conspirators. It makes the story more dramatic. Also, this scene shows Caesar's public self and his private self. When Caesar and Calpurnia are talking, Caesar pretends not to be afraid. The quotation "Caesar shall go forth," demonstrates Caesar's public self. However, when Calpurnia explained her nightmare about Caesar's assassination, he suddenely decided to stay at home. This shows that Caesar is afraid that he might be murdered. Then he says that he is staying at home to plead Calpurnia not that Caesar is afraid of her nightmare. This scene helps readers to think more about Caesar's character and the relationship between Calpurnia's dream and Caesar's death. It also shows the relationship between Calpurnia and Caesar that while Calpurnia does consider about Caesar, he looks down at her and does not admi what she is saying.

CAESAR

Nor heaven nor earth have been at peace to-night:
Thrice hath Calpurnia in her sleep cried out,
'Help, ho! they murder Caesar!' Who's within?

CALPURNIA

What mean you, Caesar? think you to walk forth?
You shall not stir out of your house to-day.

CAESAR

Caesar shall forth: the things that threaten'd me
Ne'er look'd but on my back; when they shall see
The face of Caesar, they are vanished.

CALPURNIA

Caesar, I never stood on ceremonies,
Yet now they fright me. There is one within,
Besides the things that we have heard and seen,
Recounts most horrid sights seen by the watch.
A lioness hath whelped in the streets;
And graves have yawn'd, and yielded up their dead;
Fierce fiery warriors fought upon the clouds,
In ranks and squadrons and right form of war,
Which drizzled blood upon the Capitol;
The noise of battle hurtled in the air,
Horses did neigh, and dying men did groan,
And ghosts did shriek and squeal about the streets.
O Caesar! these things are beyond all use,
And I do fear them.

CAESAR

What can be avoided
Whose end is purposed by the mighty gods?
Yet Caesar shall go forth; for these predictions
Are to the world in general as to Caesar.

CALPURNIA

When beggars die, there are no comets seen;
The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.

CAESAR

Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard.
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.

CAESAR

The gods do this in shame of cowardice:
Caesar should be a beast without a heart,
If he should stay at home to-day for fear.
No, Caesar shall not: danger knows full well
That Caesar is more dangerous than he:
We are two lions litter'd in one day,
And I the elder and more terrible:
And Caesar shall go forth.

CALPURNIA

Alas, my lord,
Your wisdom is consumed in confidence.
Do not go forth to-day: call it my fear
That keeps you in the house, and not your own.
We'll send Mark Antony to the senate-house:
And he shall say you are not well to-day:
Let me, upon my knee, prevail in this.

CAESAR

Mark Antony shall say I am not well,
And, for thy humour, I will stay at home.

Learning Profile-K

I am a gestalt thinker with the profile K.

In a K profile, I am a visual learner that must see the whole three-dimensional perspective and emotional elements to learn. My tendency is to see the big picture and to be less concerned with the details. I learn best through movement and by focusing on the whole picture, context and emotional relevance to self. When I am relaxed, I may easily communicate the details and sequence of information, both verbally and written. I prefer not to follow step-by-step instructions and tend to start by imagining the end results and then intuitively doing what seem appropriate. My movements tend to be spontaneous and fluid when relaxed.

There are many habits and strategies that will help me to learners like me become more orderly and analytical in you thinking and your work habit. I need to sit in front row on the left hand side where they can access their left eye most easily because I am in a left eye range. I need to see the whole picture but not know where to start to chunk it down into the linear pieces of language to express it. It will be highly beneficial if I work on an integrative balance of art, music, movement and interpersonal skills combined with cognitive endeavors in linguistics and mathematics. Also, in order to be a good learner, I need to make lists, prioritize, use flow charts and attend to details.

I may have difficulty communicating, listening and remembering when under stress. Because I am in a left eye range, it scans from right to left. It is possible challenge reading or writing languages that move from left to right like English. I may reverse or transpose letters or numbers. My biggest challenge may be to access the pieces of information and be able to put them together in a linear logical manner that I can then communicate, so I may not know what you are talking about. Also, I do not really understand when someone is explaining about an object step by step. I might have to see an image. For example, if I buy a new phone and there is an instruction how I should use this phone and what function this phone has. However, I do not read it but I just use the phone whatever I want. Therefore, I have a difficulty when there is an long instruction about problems.

I would like my teachers to know that I need to be encouraged and modeled how to work with and communicate the details and linear aspects of life and learning. There are many activities that can help me to be a good learner. They are reading out loud, Thinking Cap from Brain Gym, megaphones, toning the vowels and cross-lateral hand play like knitting, writing and drawing with the non-dominant hand, and massaging the Temporal mandibular Joint for communication. Also, if I see an image while I am learning, I will be a better learner. I would like my teacher to explain problems with images. Other than these situations, I am most likely be focused in class.

Arts mirror

The painting, 'The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolas Tulp' was drawn oil on canvus by the Renaissance artists, Rembrandt, in 1632. This painting demonstrates the group of people who are studying and dissecting corpse and discovering about human facts. This piece of art is indicate of rediscovery and new knowledge of Renaissance. In the painting, Dr Nicolas Tulp is teaching a group of people about the dissection and interesting facts about the human body. This shows that people in Renaissance looked for many new discoveries and interesting knowledge and inquired more about the world. Many people started questioning about how the bodies of human look like and how the anatomy works. Therefore, people began dissecting dead bodies after being permitted by the Churches. They explored many scientific techiniques and new knowledges from dissection of dead bodies which led people to high development of new knowledges such as medicines. People in the Renaissance also pursued realism of paintings. There is In the painting, dead bodies and expression of people were drown with more details. Also, shadows on men's clothes and anatomical drawing make a painting realistic. In the Renaissance, people began patronizing talented and skilled artists to develop their country. All the artists drew paintings with realism and anatomical techiniques. They brought attention from people and formed rivalry between city-states. Arts reflect the situation of that time period. It illustrates how people lived and what people were aiming for in their society with new artistic techiniques and varied subjects.

Driving Forces of the Renaissance

I believe trade and banking was the most crucial driving force of the Renaissance because it helped people to adopt new knowledge from other city-states. In order to trade, people in Renaissance had to travel around to trade some goods. During this process, people also traded new knowledge such as Earth and universe. Banking was also essential because as banking flourished, people became richer so they hired some creative thinkers to their city-staes. As a result, those creative thinkers helped city-states flourish as a Renaissance city. As trade and banking flourished, people got new valuable knowledge and also wealth that could help city-states develop.

Dear Mom and Dad

Welcome to Student Led Conference! I am really glad that you came to see my work. I am going to share with you how I have worked and improved throughout the year. My goal this year was to learn enthusiastically and collaborate constructively. This binder contains many activities from different classes. This conference will be held for 30 minutes. You can also discuss with other teachers.

In About Learning section, there are SLR’s which are the learning target of ISKL. Those are 'learn enthusiastically', 'reason critically', 'collaborate contructively', 'live ethically', 'communicate effectively' and 'think cretively'. I have strived to accomplish all SLR’s this year. I divided my activities by different subjects. Also, there is Multiple Intelligence that was done in trimester 1. It tells me which type of person I am.

For each subject, I have organized the activities that I have done throughout this year. I have completed many lap activities and take home exam for the science. I also wrote the reflections on those. In math class, there were many quizzes and tests for each topic. Some quizzes were nicely done, and some I failed. After taking those quizzes and tests, I reflected myself so I could find out what was wrong with me. From each reflection, I could know how I can hand in work differently as before.

As I explained to you, my portfolio contains variety of activities. You will know how far I have improved this year compare with last year. Thank you for coming to student led conference and I hope that you figure out what activities that teachers let us finish and how I have completed those works nicely. Thank you.

Object Writing

"Ah! Again! It really hurts me! I'm really sick of you! Seriously!"

My owner threw me to her friend again. She will never understand how I feel and the behavior that she is doing right now is torturing me. I am aching so much as though I just had a car accident and being stepped under the truck. Unfortunately, she throws me everyday whenever she gets pissed. What have I done to her? Only thing I have been working so hard was to keep her stationery safely. If she treats me badly, she should not have bought me in the store. OK, well, I was too furious. Be patient.

Oh no, I can't be calm and quiet like a sheep! Readers, do not ever think that I am complaining too much. My owner starts to draw some weird-looking creatures on me. Furthermore, it is now being smudged. Please stop drawing on me! It's extremely ticklish. You are not being responsible for your object. I am not a piece of paper. Don't you think that I am a container of your stationery? In fact, I was really beautiful. Yet, my owner will never know how I used to look like. I am perfectly ruined.

I think my owner just stopped drawing things on me. Finally, I got a free time! She never touches me when she is taking tests or doing something very important. Only thing I do in this time is to count my precious pencils and pens. Let me check. Oh my god! She lost one of my babies again. That pink pen had been staying with me only for three weeks! My owner always makes me despondent. The pink pen was the most gorgeous and colorful pen that I have ever seen! After school, she may hop to the store and stuff me like a turkey. She loves to purchase new things. It's such a waste of money! Don't be panic. Let's think in a optimistic way. I lost some weight because of the gorgeous pink pen which is really good for me.

It seems like 1 hour passed. It's really quiet. I have been carried in her bag hearing the whistle of wind. Oh this is sweet! Nobody will draw some ridiculous things on me or lose one of my precious stationery. Although I will be tortured again when my owner get back to home, (her sister chews me every single day. I am not a chewing gum!) I will enjoy this time.

Crispin

1. In this book, the boy who was named Crispin is a main character. He was just a young and pleasant boy whose mother's name is Asta. Before his mother died, his name was just Asta's son. Later, his real name was revealed. It's 'Crispin'. His mother was not respected by the villagers. Even though she had passed away, nobody pitied her. The day after his mother's funeral, everything had changed dangerously.

2. He is a wolf's head because John Aycliffe spread the rumors like that. He did nothing wrong but the said that he stole money.

3. I think Crispin might be the son of the lord or king. According to what Father Quinel said, Asta could read and write but she pretended like she couldn't read or write at all. I guess if a woman was educated that time, she must be from a wealthy and welfare family. On the other hands, Crispin was baptized. It does mean that his father was the lord or in high level.

4. I think he is going to another village which is situated far from the previous village where he had been living in. Otherwise, he would be arrested by John Aycliffe. I guess Crispin will meet someone and go on a journey with him (or her).

The Red Tree

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein

In ESL class, we read a book called "The Red Tree". This book was about our depressing life. In this book, there is a girl who has her own red tree. However, it was not as same as the normal tree. There was only one black leaf in her room. It made her very depressed. She always failed whenever she was trying to do something. Sometimes, she was totally ignored as though she was invisible person. Whenever, she didn't succeed of achieving her goal, her room was covered with the black leaves. One day, when she came back home hopelessly, she found the red tree which represents 'hope'.

After reading this story, I was impressed. I strongly agreed with this story because sometimes, i feel like I am being ignored by someone. There is a lot of sad things happen in my life also. When that happens, I am always frustrated and don't know what to do. Therefore, I found my red tree to make me feel better.

My red tree is Korea. This is because Korea is my homecountry. After coming to Malaysia, I realized that Korea really did comfort me. Whenever I was in Korea, I felt that I am free like a flying bird and I felt really comfortable. Also, I could buy anything I wanted in Korea. I am really missing Korea.

Mr Linden's libraray

You would not believe what had happened to her. What 0n earth could the picture of the book turn up as a real figure by itself. Ok wait, let me explain to you. Of course, she was warned to take care of that book very carefully, but how could it be possible? Here is the TRUE story.

When the weather was extremely hot, a girl who was named Melissa, sprinted to the library near by Neitherfield. She loves to read books. The first thing that she did after waking up from her bed was hopping to the library which was situated near her house. However, that day, the library was totally changed. It was neither clean nor new. It was not the library that she usually went to. She blew up all the floating dust around the library. She tiptoed on the window. There was on bearded old man glancing at her. No one was reading or sitting in that library except for the old man. The old man waved Melissa to come in. She stepped inside carefully.
"Which book are you looking for, dear?" asked the old man with cracking voice.
"I......I need a fiction-book." mumbled Melissa.
"The fiction books are listed over there on the third bookself. You can also borrow them."
Melissa was really confused. Where is the library that Melissa usually went to? Melissa started to search a book with curiosity. As she looked around, she discovered an enormous book at the corner of the bookself. It was twice bigger than a normal book. The title was "The Spirits of the Trees".

"Oh, I found a great one! This was the book that I was looking for!" exclaimed Melissa.
As on bearded old man noticed the book that Melissa was going to borrow, he was perplexed.
"Oh, dear, this book is a bit......,"said an old man and ceased. After few minutes, he suddenly shouted delightfully.
"Ok, well! Good! I knew that this book would be borrowed by someone in someday because this book has not been borrowed for many years! This book will be very astonishing. However, there is one thing that you should remind when you read this book. Do not just sleep when the book is being opened. I said DO NOT," warned an old man.
Melissa thought that an old man was a bit weird and extraordinary. Anyways, she promised not to sleep with the opened book. After arriving at her house, she totally forgot the promise.

"Phew...that old man was really scary," sighed Melissa. She lied down on her bed and started to read over. The book was really astonishing and fascinating. However, she fell asleep with the opened book. Suddenely, the house started to shake extremely and the trees on the book turned up. Melissa was just getting to her feet without a word. She didn't know what had happened. She was neither in her bed nor her house. She was in totally different world that she had never visited before. She realized that she was standing in the middle of the forest with the book. There was a sign posted in front of the entrance. In a few second, she knew that she was in "Trees' World".

It was all green. Nothing was in that area. Only trees. Only trees were existing. Yet, trees were too sensitive. They neglected Melissa entering in Trees' World because humans have been destroying and cutting them violently. All trees started to shake and move towards Melissa. She sprinted as fast as she could. Despite of her trying, she was caught by trees. They squeezed Melissa's body with their stamps. She was about to pass out. Fortunately, she wiped the piece of paper of book. She was in her room with an opened book.

How can i be responsible and respectful 3rd trimester?

3rd trimester has just started! I have planned how I can be responsible and respectful in this trimester. In trimester 2, I wasn't very responsible and respect for completing assignment and using languages. Now, I am going to reflect my behavior, and I will plan what to do in trimester 3.

Responsible:
Mostly, I completed my homework on time. However, I sometimes didn't hand in my homework on time. In trimester 3, I will submit my homework on time. Last trimester, I was really lazy to do my homework, especially band homework. I did my homework after playing with my friends or chatting with people. I am really reflecting. I think I delayed doing my homework on purpose because it was just difficult to do. I just gave up doing homework without trying. Therefore, in trimester 3, I will complete any assignment on time, even though it's very tough. Whenever I don't know how to do my homework, I will ask for help to teachers and parents.

Respectful:
I won't swear in Korean although other students can't understand. Also, I won't talk only Korean which other students cannot understand. Otherwise, my English skills won't improve and I might just stay in ESL forever. Sometimes, I gossiped people in Korean. Furthermore, I yelled and talked loudly in the canteen. It's very disrespectful. I also heard that other students who aren't Korean said that Koreans are too loud and talked in Korean even though it's international school. I was really embarrassed. From now on, I will use my first language less, and I will use English as much as I can.

Time in the peaceful place-forest

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, I went to FRIM to experience nature and many different insects in the forest. I learned how forest looks like and what kind of creatures lives in the rainforest. At first, I was really scared because I really don't like to touch or observe insects. However, all the teachers and friends were so helpful that I could explore the forest easily.
The most interesting activity that I had done in FRIM was going for night walk. It was very dark and scary. However, it was really excting because it cooled me down. Spending night in the FRIM was really facsinating. Especially, fireflies were the best. It was the first time that I saw the fireflies. They were flying beautifully. Also, it was easy to catch them so I could see them clearly. Even though, I got scared because of leeches, it was very memorable activity.

I didn't participate well when we went for aquatic activity. This was because my sandal wasn't useable. The underside of shoes was broken so it was divided into three pieces. I really wanted to participate in because I like to catch and observe the insects, especially in the water. However, the ground was so tough to be barefoot that I couldn't enjoy the aquatic activity. That was why I was standing in a spot stationary.

From this trip, I learned many things. I have learned what spieces are living in FRIM, how they look like and how to observe them. I could feel the natural sounds, smells and feelings. It was very peaceful. I felt like I wasn't in Earth which is very polluted and noisy. In the other hand, I was depressed because the city where we live in, isn't peaceful anymore. This trip will remind in my mind forever.

Outdoors

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I am going to FRIM with 7-A classmates. I am expecting that this trip will be really interesting and meaningful. We will hike the mountainous area and build up the tent by ourselves in the middle of the rainforest. Our team will be looking for many different living things and insects in that place. Although, this is the first time that I ever visit the rainforest, I am very confident to stay there for two days to learn many things about the rainforest.
One other notification is to go to Malaysia Week!! I am going to rainforest which is located in Kuala Gandah. This site is about animals. However, I am not satisfied to this site because I am not friendly with animals. I prefer doing more boat rafting and water activities rather than taking care of animals. However, there should be something that I can learn. I will learn how to be friends with animals and what kind of things that animals like.

Anyways, I am really expecting both FRIM and Malaysia Week. These trips will be unforgettable and meaningful trips for me because I never went to the rainforest before. I promised that I will be a prepared person for these trips!!!!!!

Band Blog Posting VOID

PART 1.

ISKL's mission statement:
The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides (silence) an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to become a highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.

I think adding the 'silence' after provides, will make the best tension. When I added the 'silence' I thought after 'provide' will give more curious and questions to the listener. The listener might be curious what will be provided for school and what is going to be said. This is because they don't know any information about this statement and they also don't know what will be provided. If the speaker add a void before 'an exceptional education', the audience will wait for the speaker nervously because they want the speaker to complete the sentence.

PART 2.
The composer can create the tension by suddenly adding ritardando in music. If the composer add that, the audience will have questions because they want to know what will be happened. And, if the composer changes the music in normal rhythm, the audience will find the answer for their questions.

PART 3.
Answers of the Story
1) I would call this story 'The Black Box' because it was the most important thing in this story. I'm not so sure but the black box was the void of this story because it attracts the reader's attention and it makes us curious.
2) I thought lottery was always good thing. I thought they would have a really big celebration for the person who won the lottery. but i was wrong, the lottery wasn't a good thing at all. They stoned Tessie(who won the lottery) It was really surprising.
3) I really wanted to open it, I was curious about the ending of the story. Then I started to wonder why teachers are doing this to us. This whole thing was about the void. Not letting us open this paper until 5 pm didn't made any changes, nothing would have gone wrong if somebody opened it earlier, but I knew that teachers wanted to make us question and wonder. I think this part was another void in this assignment.
4) I felt really nervous, and wanted to get a paper with a black dot, because way back then, I thought a paper with a black dot was a good thing. Unfortunately I got a paper without a dot. To be honest, I opened it on bus, since nobody was looking.(sorry) because I was full of curiosity and couldn't handle it anymore.
5) It was interesting, how the author keep saying black, black and black. Cause usually black represents bad things. I think they're voids, really make me curious. like for black paper, I get curious who's going to get it.
6) The end of story was really shocking, gave me all the answers. I was really confused why Mrs.Hutchinson keep saying 'this isn't fair'. but then I realized why.
7) No, my prediction wasn't correct at all. But I think the author wants my prediction to be wrong, because that's how he created this so interesting, by building all the elements and then at the end he had changed it upside down.
8) If there were titles, and less of void it would have been easy for me to predict the ending. but if it was easy to predict the ending, I wouldn't have died to read the story.
9) Because voids always make people question. If people start to question they will think more deeply, maybe the story might get popular then.
10) a) No titles makes me wonder what this story is basically about.
b) No ending makes me wonder what the ending is, even make me guess the ending.
c)Mystery paper makes me wonder what is the lottery, who's going to get it
They all made me question and wonder

Reflection of Mc Curry Photography

Last week, all 7th graders went Islamic Art Museum to see the history of Islam and photoes of Mc Curry. It was really impressive for me. Therefore, I chose one picture which impressed me the most.

The name of this photo is 'Burning Oil Field, Al-Ahmadi Oil Field. It was taken from Kuwait in 1991 during the war. The soldier made this oil field become a barren land. I chose this photo because it really gave me an impression. The thing that we could see from the foreground of this photo were three camels and empty ground. The ground seem to be barren because of fire and three camels are escaping away from scary fire. The color of this photo is black and dark red. I think the focal point is middle. There is red, orange, and yellow fire. It attracts people strongly. The part that I like that most was burning fire. It really attacked my mind.
After looking these photoes, I felt very sad. It was because the valuable oil field was burning. It's because of war. The camels were seemed to run away from scary huge fire. The point was the smokes. It was going up to the sky furiously. It was so dark that it made me very sad.

Reflection of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I have read about the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in ESL class. It was really interesting and impressive. I would like to recommend this book to the readers who enjoy to read the fantasy story.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Charlie was the only one child who left in the factory until every children had gone. There was a child whose name is Charlie. He is living with poor family. They didn't have enough food to eat so they were always struggling. Near his house, there was a huge chocolate factory. One day, the owner of chocolate factory invited five children to look around his giant chocolate factory. Charlie was the last child who found the golden ticket inside the chocolate. However, every child except Charlie was really repulsive and disgusting. They never listened Mr Wonka’s announcement. Unfortunately, four children had disappeared. Charlie, who left the end of the journey of the chocolate factory, finally was willed the Chocolate Factory by Mr Wonka.

There are a few characters that I would like to explain about. Mr Wonka is the owner of the chocolate factory. He is really odd and extraordinary. He can invent any kind of chocolate that he wants to make. Augustus is a boy who is very obese. He loves to eat chocolate bars so he eats about 20 chocolate bars a day. Veruca is a girl who is spoiled by her parents. Her parents get something to her whatever she wants. She always misunderstands that she can get everything from her parents that she needs. Violet is a great gum chewer. She always chews a gum while she is sleeping. She is very stubborn so she doesn’t obey someone’s rule. Mike is extremely crazy at TV and games. He is very violent. Last character is Charlie. Charlie is very kind and honest. He respects elders and he is very patient.

From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, willing Mr Wonka’s factory to Charlie was my favorite part. This is because while other children got punished, Charlie was obedient and patient. At first, I was concerned if Charlie wouldn’t get any prize from Mr Wonka. When Charlie was awarded and got chocolate factory, I was thankful for Mr Wonka even I was not Charlie.

However, I don’t like ending part. All children except Charlie were punished but they couldn’t become normal children. I hoped that all the children can be normal even they have done something wrong.

I am so glade to read this interesting book. I hope I can read another fantasy book which is written by Roald Dahl.

Five questions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

1.What will happen when five children, eight adults and Willy Wonka enter the Chocolate Room?

2.What is inside the Chocolate Room?

3.Who are the workers of the Chocolate Factory?

4.How is the chocolate made?

5.Why did Willy Wonka invite the five children to his Chocolate Factory? What is his purpose?

Reflection of retelling myth

In ESL class, I have to retell my myth story through the point of view of the character. I am going to retell 'Eros and Psyche' story and my point of view of the character is Eros. The SLR that my project best reflects is Thinking Creatively. When I write this piece of writing, I had to think creatively because I changed my point of view into Eros so I should create some stories. If the point of view of the character is changed, the story is totally different. I added new story creatively. I also searched on the internet so I got information from there. I wanted the story would be creative.

When I wrote this piece of writing, I was proud of it, because I was so enthusiastic when I created this piece of writing. I was trying my best to write this piece. I think I have done well. I think my point of view of character is supported well throughout the text.

However, I have to focus on my grammar such as verbs and word choice. Especially my word choice is little bit weak, so I have to memorize more high level vocabularies. I also should organize some paragraphs because sometimes the sentences are flowing and don’t be connected smoothly. Those are my weakness part of my writing skill.

The most challenging aspect of this assignment was grammar and word choice. It was difficult to choose the correct word. So I kept searching on dictionary and thesaurus. Those dictionaries were very informative and useful. I could know many words from there.

From this assignment, I have learned how to organize each paragraph. If I write next assignment, I can make the writing more clearly and informatively.

Why do we write??

Writing is very important to our lives. Because it remains for us forever unless it isn't burnt or ripped. Diary is very good example. I have been recording about my life on diary since I was six years old. I drew the picture also. It is still remaining in my mind. Sometimes, I read those diaries. Those are quite simple but very funny. I can memorize my childhood. When I was young, I used to live with my grandparent because my parent were going to work. My grandparent were very polite and kind to me. Even though, the year had passed, I can be memorized by reading diary. It was very beautiful. Otherwise, writing is important when I am hard to talk over the phone or conversation. If I want to complain or pleasure to whom, I always write letter to them. It is easy to communicate. Also, we can improve English skill from writing especially me. From now on, I will try to write with different topics and improve my writing skill.

My SLR Progress Today

1. SLR doing well in ESL
I would like to tell something that I am doing very well in ESL. That is Think Creatively, because whenever I was doing project, I tried to make it creatively. Especially, we had to include a lot of images on blog which were matching with the writing piece. I tried to upload creative images when I searched the pictures on the internet. Also, I am interested in drawing so when we were doing drawing activity, I thought about how I could make this drawing very creatively or what stuff that I could use to make this project creatively. I have improved my thinking skill from those activities.

2. SLR need to improve
Yet, I have much that I need to improve on. One of them is Collaborate Constructively. Recently, we had a lot of group activities in ESL. However, I wanted to make the group that the members were friendly with me. I avoided making the group with boys. Sometimes, I thought the boys make me annoying but that was my prejudice. They were helpful and useful to me. They gave creative ideas while we were doing activity. Therefore, I will collaborate constructively with all classmates.
